One of the real delights of being a writer is going to the various events through the year, be it as an invited guest or as a fan enjoying the good time, and the biggest events for me this year have been Crimefest in Bristol and the Crime and Curry Night, organised by the Colne Bookshop.
Crimefest has turned into one of the major dates in the crime fiction calendar. It is held every year at The Marriott in Bristol, and it is a chance to listen to the greats of crime fiction talk about their work, as well as mingle with them in the bar afterwards. As well as talks to enjoy by people like the irrepressible Giles Brandreth, another discussion expertly handled by Peter Guttridge, the usual master of ceremonies at Crimefest, the weekend allows you to discover authors that would perhaps not find their way onto the panels at the more prestigious Harrogate festival (and I include myself on this undercard), and so I have spent the summer enjoying the books of people like Steve Mosby (although Steve was on one of the panels at Harrogate), the amusing Chris Ewan, and the quietly disturbing Helen Fitzgerald.and the quietly disturbing Helen Fitzgerald. On my own panel, which was on the Friday morning, conducted through the fog of a hangover, I got to meet Linda Regan, Pauline Rowson, and JG Goodhind, all delighful people to meet.

In June 2010, I was delighted to be invited as the guest of honour to the Crime and Curry Night, organised by The Colne Bookshop, where for a modest price people enjoyed a night of spicy dining and a copy of Dead Silent. Over 90 people attended, and I had a really great evening. My thanks go to Christine and Jo at The Colne Bookshop.

Apart from those events, I have also enjoyed the company of the great and the good at the Harrogate festival, as well as at various libraries, which are now too numerous to mention. But I would like to thank everyone who has invited me, or attended through the years, and I will post details of any future events when I have news of them.
